Matos Gameiro arquitectos is a Lisbon based architectural practice. Over the past 25 years the practice developed projects of a wide range of scales and program, resulting from private and public commissions.
EU Mies Award 2022 Nominee (Grândola’s Library and Municipal Archive). The practice obtained the 1st prize in Bairro da Boavista Church and São José da Boavista Social and Parish Center international competition*, the 1st prize in the Cascais School international competition* and the 1st prize in the Santa Maria do Mar Monastery reconversion competition, in 2019, the 1st prize in the Grândola Municipal Library and Archive international competition**, in 2012; the 1st prize in the University of Coimbra Pharmacy Faculty new building international competition***, in 2001; the 1st prize in the Castanheira do Ribatejo Sport Pavilion international competition****, in 2004; the 1st prize in the Alhandra´s Mortuary Houses competition**** in 2005. The practice also obtained the 2nd prize in the São Domingos de Benfica Sports Pavillion international competition, in 2023, the 2nd prize in the Quarteira Cultural and Educational Center* international competition and the 2nd prize in the Carcavelos Municipal Housing***** international competition, both in 2019; the 3rd prize in the Santa Maria da Feira Municipal Hall***** international competition, in 2022, the 3rd prize in the Giants Causeway visitors centre, in Northern Ireland****, an UIA/ UNESCO international competition in 2005; an honourable Mention in the Reconversion of the Abrantes Municipal Market* international competition, in 2021; and was shortlisted in the international competition for the new Museum of the 20th Century, in Berlin**, in 2016.

Pedro Matos Gameiro
Born in Lourenço Marques in 1970. Professional degree in architecture from the Faculty of Architecture at the Technical University of Lisbon, in 1994. PhD in Architecture from the University of Granada, Spain, in 2014. Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture of the University of Évora. In 1998 co-founded Matos Gameiro + Carlos Crespo arquitectos and, in 2006, established Pedro Matos Gameiro arquitectos. His work was published and he has participated in conferences, juries and exhibitions in Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Slovenia, United Kingdom, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, China and South Korea. Has been named Jury for the FAD Awards 2021.
